Embedded Project on Auto Intensity Control of Street Lights

ABSTRACT:

White Light Emitting Diode (LED) replaces HID lights in road lighting framework to incorporate dimming feature. A microcontroller of 8051 families is utilized to control the force by creating beat width tweaked signals that drive a MOSFET to switch the LEDs in like manner to accomplish the wanted task.

In the present framework, for the most part, the illuminating of highways is done through High-Intensity Discharge lights (HID), whose vitality utilization is high. Its power can’t be controlled by the necessity so there is a need to change on to an elective strategy for lighting framework i.e., by utilizing LEDs. This framework is to work to conquer the present day downsides of HID lights. This framework shows the use of the LEDs (light discharging diodes) as the light source and its variable power control, as per the necessity. Driven expends less power and its lifetime is more when contrasted with the customary HID lights. The more essential and intriguing component is its power can be controlled by the necessity amid in peak hours which isn’t practical in HID lights.

A bunch of LEDs is utilized to frame a road light. The microcontroller contains programmable guidelines which control the power of lights in view of the PWM (Pulse width regulation) signals created. The intensity of lights is kept high during the peak hours, as the movement on the streets tends to diminish gradually in the late evenings, the intensity likewise decreases continuously till morning. At last, it totally closes down at morning 6, and again continues at 6 pm at night. The procedure is repeated.

This idea in future can be improved by coordinating it with the solar panel, which changes over the solar power into the relating voltage, and this power is utilized to feed the highway lights.
