Embedded Project on IR Controlled Robotic Vehicle

ABSTRACT:

The project is designed to control a robotic vehicle utilizing a standard TV remote. IR sensor is interfaced to the control unit on the robot for sensing the IR signals transmitted by the remote. This information is conveyed on to the control unit which moves the robot as wanted.

An 8051 arrangement microcontroller is utilized as a part of this project as a control device. Transmitting end utilizes a TV remote through which IR charges are transmitted. At the receiver end, these commands are utilized for controlling the robot every which way, for example, forward, backward and left or right and so on. At the less than the desired end, the movement is accomplished by two motors that are interfaced to the microcontroller.

RC5 based coded information sent from the TV remote is received by an IR collector interfaced to the microcontroller. The program on the microcontroller refers to the RC5 code to produce separate output based on the information to work the motors through a motor driver IC.

The motors are interfaced to the control unit through motor driver IC. Further, the project can be improved by DTMF technology. With this innovation, we can control the mechanical vehicle by a mobile phone. This technology has advantages over long communication range when compared with a line of sight communication in IR technology.

APPLICATIONS:

1) This line following robot can likewise be changed to a walking robot in any surface by utilizing only one homemade fixtures as per the detail instructions give.

2) Similarly, the same walking robot can be the joined with the special magnetic material according to guidelines to climb a wall of any vertical metallic surface says a refrigerator body.
