ABSTRACT:
Solar energy means all the energy that reaches the earth from the sun. It provides daylight makes the earth hot and is the source of energy for plants to grow. Solar energy is also put into two types of use to help our lives directly solar heating and solar electricity.
Solar electricity is the technology of converting sunlight directly into electricity. It is based on photo-voltaic or solar modules, which are very reliable and do not require any fuel or servicing. Solar electric systems are suitable for plenty of suns and are ideal when there is no mains electricity.
Our objective is to design and develop a solar electric system normally “SOLAR POWERED BIRD SCARED”. For this project the conversion of the solar energy is done by the solar panel and this energy is made use of bird scarer. All of us know that in the years to come we have feed more mouths to achieve this task, we have to improve productivity. Productivity improvement becomes impossible due to the actual shortfall in the prime resource like land, water etc.
Wastage of crops due to rodents, birds and animal etc is increasing at a faster rate. Our project aims to control wastage of crops and food grains due to birds. The main focus of agricultural engineering is to apply various engineering and technological principles in crop production to maximize production and to minimize wastage.
INTRODUCTION:
MAN AND ENERGY:
A man has needed and used energy at an increasing rate for its sustenance and well being ever since he came on the earth a few million years ago.
A primitive man required energy primarily in the form of food. He derived this by eating plants or animals, which he hunted. Subsequently he discovered fire and his energy needs increased as he started to make use of wood and other biomass to supply the energy needs for cooking as well as agriculture. He added a new dimension to the use of energy by domesticating and training animals to work for him. With further demand for energy, a man began to use the wind for sailing ships and for driving windmills, and the force of falling water to turn water wheels. Till this time, it would not be wrong to say that the sun was supplying all the energy needs of man either directly or indirectly and that man was using only renewable sources of energy.
The industrial revolution, which began with the discovery of the steam engine (AD 1700), brought about a great many changes. For the first time, a man began to use a new source of energy, viz. coal, in large quantities.
ADVANTAGES:
Simple in construction
It is portable, so it can be transferred easily from one place to other places
Power is stored in a battery
Maintenance cost is low
DISADVANTAGES:
Initial cost is high
Solar panel saves the energy during the day only
APPLICATION OF SOLAR ELECTRICITY:
Solar modules are a good source of electricity because they are reliable simples to operate and do not require fuel. The main application for solar electricity is in remote sunny areas that have no mains electricity and the supply of fuel for a generator is unreliable or expensive.
Many appliances in homes and small institutions can be run on solar electricity. Here is a list of energy:
(1) Solar power calculator.
(2) Street lamp.
(3) Jack pumps that lift water from a depth of 330m.
(4) Soldering iron.
(5) Electric drill, sewing machine, high voltage fly killer, science laboratory apparatus, slide projector and etc.,
